Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Delegation Visits VABA

Updated: Jun 20

On June 3rd, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Philippine USA Business Economic Trade Mission embarked on a significant working trip to the Vietnamese American Business Association (VABA). The delegation, led by Ms. Charo Yu, received a warm welcome at the VABA office, marking a pivotal moment in enhancing trade and investment relations between the two organizations.

A Promising Exchange

The visit was characterized by engaging presentations and discussions. Victor Duong, Vice President of VABA, delivered an insightful presentation that captivated the attention of the Philippine delegation. The delegation comprised numerous businesses from the Philippines and representatives from various Philippine associations in the United States. Key figures from the Philippine team included Raymund Jude G. Aguilar, Vice President of International Affairs, Edwin Moran, Board Member of PCCI-PUBC (Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry – Philippines US Business Council) and Member of the ASEAN Chamber of Commerce and Dr. Yolanda Stern Founder and Chairman Emeritus FPACC. The presence of many other representatives underscored the event's importance and potential for future collaboration.

The Filipino-American Community in the US

The event highlighted the significance of the Filipino-American community in the United States, which numbers approximately 4.4 million, including multiracial Americans with Filipino heritage. Filipino Americans represent the third-largest Asian American population in the US. Their substantial presence and contributions across various sectors—including health, service, hospitality, technology and education—emphasize the importance of fostering strong bilateral relations.

VABA: A Diverse and Inclusive Community

The Vietnamese American Business Association (VABA) is not only a hub for Vietnamese American businesses but also a diverse community representing Asian entrepreneurs at large. With over 2,200 members across 12 states and international members in more than 8 countries, VABA is dedicated to fostering a thriving business ecosystem. The association provides support, advocacy, and networking opportunities, contributing significantly to the broader business community.

Looking Ahead

The visit from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry marks a promising step towards future collaboration. The event's success has sparked discussions about the potential for a reciprocal visit by VABA to the Philippines. Such exchanges are essential in nurturing and expanding the economic and cultural ties between the United States and the Philippines.

As the two organizations continue to build on this foundation, the potential for increased trade, investment, and mutual prosperity becomes ever more apparent. The shared commitment to fostering a thriving business ecosystem promises a bright future for both Filipino and Vietnamese American business communities.
